Meet Sherissa Garr, AMFT

Sherissa is a dedicated Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #132207, under the supervision of Judy Benvenuto, LMFT. Offering both telehealth and in-person therapy sessions to cater to the diverse needs of her clients, she brings a wealth of education and professional experience in her practice.

With a foundation in Psychology from Cal State Long Beach for her undergraduate studies and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University, Sherissa is committed to delivering high-quality therapeutic care. Her 15 years of professional experience include impactful roles such as behavior management assistant in residential group homes and a practicum at a behavioral and therapeutic middle school.

Specializing in working with diverse populations, Sherissa has honed her skills in assisting clients with dual diagnoses, encompassing neurodevelopmental disorders like Intellectual disabilities, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum disorder, alongside various mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Her focus extends to individuals grappling with behavioral challenges and adjustment issues. Sherissa values connection with clients of all ages: children, teens, adults, and families.

Building a foundation of trust through compassion and authenticity, she meets clients with curiosity and patience. Employing a client-centered and collaborative approach, Sherissa utilizes evidence-based therapy practices to guide clients toward achieving their therapeutic goals.


She is passionate about fostering well-being, self-esteem, and confidence, empowering clients to lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives. Her commitment includes helping individuals navigate complex traumas that may arise at different life stages. Recognizing the uniqueness of each client's story, culture, and experiences, Sherissa values creating a safe space where clients feel heard, validated, trusted, and understood.

Outside of her professional life, Sherissa enjoys staying active outdoors and cherishing moments with family and friends.
